I was a Care Worker. My degrees are in Performance and Writing, but I never thought in a billion years, that I may actually use them. When I made the decision that perhaps I could become a plus size model, most people would dismiss the very notion. But it was like I woke up one morning and decided that I could show off my size 20 skills, just as well as those size 10 ladies. After about 10 minutes on Google, I didn’t stop to consider if I should apply, I just did it. I’ve always known I looked different, but Models Direct was the first one to see it as a potential selling point. Who knew my first assignment would end up being my regular income!Continue reading ““Well, how did I get here?””
Fireworks night is super exciting and the Models Direct team have had lots of fun over the weekend at firework displays, warming up by the bonfire and of course maybe toasting the odd marshmallow – however as an office of animal lovers we haven’t forgotten to keep our beloved pets safe!
“I hope to promote diversity and inclusion as a wheelchair user in more campaigns such as this in the future!” – Alex
Models Direct have been involved with many campaigns and shoots featuring disable models and we hope we can be involved in many more – here’s what our #malemodel Alex had to say after recently working with Heathrow Airport:
“Hi, I have just had a fabulous experience on my first assignment with Models Direct, courtesy of Molly at Models Direct and working with Ingenious on behalf of Heathrow Airport.
Natalie met me on arrival, such a lovely lady, offering refreshments and kept me posted on the time frame and set up status of equipment etc. We started promptly at noon, Steve and Magnus, the team responsible for the shots, were great, made me feel relaxed and confident. We had an initial chat then onto some shots before an informal interview whilst being pictured.
The whole experience was simple from start to finish, everywhere was of course accessible, parking was easy, directions and contact info all provided, just very very easy. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, and hope to promote diversity and inclusion as a wheelchair user in more campaigns such as this in the future. Many thanks to everyone involved in the selection process, it’s been a privilege – Thank you!”
Models Direct believe that everyone has an equal right to succeed, to appear in mainstream media. We want to see more ‘real people’ in the media and we encourage people of all looks and body types.

Everybody knows about Fashion Models, they are in the press and media constantly and often have celebrity status’s themselves earning thousands, but what about Commercial Models?? What do they earn and what can you expect?
There is a big difference between fashion and commercial Models, Models Direct represent both, but don’t tend to often work with high fashion models.
The most common form of modelling is commercial modelling, where models advertise and represent products. Commercial models may be used to convey a certain image about a product. The good thing about modelling within this sector is that physical requirements vary depending on the client, assignment and product. Each individual product will require a different image, story and look in order to appeal to their target audience.
It can be difficult to know what commercial models can expect to earn and it can vary hugely! Earnings can change depending on many factors, models experience, length of assignment and client budget. Commercial models can expect to earn anything from £150 to £1000’s !
What our client’s say about us…….
“Molly was very friendly and passionate about the project. She found some good options for us very quickly! ” – Fuzzy Duck Creative
“Overall we have had a great experience both with yourself and the models, we always received quick responses and communication was thorough which was helpful in this task.” – Symphony Group
At Models Direct we understand our clients could take their business anywhere, there are lots of model/talent agents out there!! So what makes them choose us??
An essential skill of an Assignment Co-ordinator is the ability to build strong relationships with clients! The entertainment industry is very competitive and with thousands of agents competing for business, Models Direct have to ensure they stand out above the rest and retain their clients to secure future bookings for their models.
Small businesses and large corporations contact Models Direct every day wanting to book male, female, child and baby models for Photo shoots, advertising campaigns, promotions and commercials. We are also seeing a huge increase in enquiries for pet models.
As an international modelling agency we have a wide range of child models right the way through to mature models available to be booked for paid work.
So how do we do it? Firstly, our assignments team listen to precisely what our client is looking for; types of models which can include age range, hair colour, eye colour, ethnicity and of course location for the job and duration, together with a budget.
Once we have this detailed information we can search our database and input all the fields the client has given us. Our bespoke system will then return results of models who may be suitable for the booking. Their ePortfolios are then sent electronically to the client and from that they can decide which models they wish to shortlist and/or book for their event.
“My first assignment for Models Direct went very well! It was a male model wedding shoot for Sony. I really enjoyed it. This was my first time I had experience a shoot as a male model. The team were amazing, very friendly and warm . There was a brilliant atmosphere. Marie is my model agent. She is very professional and explained everything in detail. Thank you so much to Models Direct for this opportunity it was great! I’m looking to do it more! Definitely recommended!” Jovita
At this point we make contact with the selected models to agree full booking details and importantly what they will earn for taking part.
In most cases there is a minimum of two weeks notice, sometimes we have very short notice and of course it’s always up to the model as to whether they decide to accept or reject any booking offered.
Booking paperwork is sent to the model confirming all these details in writing.
“I recently attended the photography show with Models Direct. It was a great experience and I had so much fun, it was a pleasure and I’m looking forward to do more shoots.” Orika
Once the assignment is completed the model fee is then paid to the model or parent/guardian for child and baby models. We love to see behind-the-scenes photos from our models when they’re working and also feedback from them following their success on a modelling job.
