As a model, you need to know you are safe at all times and that your rights are not being infringed.
When modelling, you have the right to:
*Complete safety at all times.
*Feel comfortable that what you are being asked to do is in line with what was agreed at booking.
*The knowledge that the work you are doing is legal.
*Privacy, when not taking part in the agreed-upon film or photo shoot.
*Professional treatment.
*Fair pay at the agreed amount.
*The knowledge that your images and personal information are securely protected.
The modelling industry is a complicated place to work within and it is not uncommon to come across conflicting information, especially when searching on the internet.
Not only can this information be confusing and fast-changing, but it can also vary from country to country.

Therefore, when reading up online, you need to know:
1. The information is from a credible, reliable and trustworthy source.
2. It is applicable to your own situation and terms of employment.
3. It relates to the country in which you are modelling.
Without doubt, the single most important step you can take to ensure your safety and protect your rights is to join a genuine, government-accredited agency.
Models Direct was established in 1990 and has a long and enviable reputation in the industry.
We are a government-registered employment agency that is regularly inspected by the Department for Business, Energy and Industry Strategy (BEIS).
We partner major clients with recognisable names and do our very best to be transparent at all times in the way we operate.
To read our terms and conditions for models, please click here. We are very happy to discuss these in more detail with models applying to join us and those already working with us.
Unfortunately, however, there are many other agencies, organisations and individuals working with models who are not as clear and honest as we are.
So, please think carefully before signing up and ensure there are no hidden costs or expectations.
Some representatives, for example, claim to be free but actually expect models to pay for expensive photo shoots and courses.
An agency, such as Models Direct, will:
*Investigate every new client and assignment thoroughly to ensure it is genuine and your safety is not compromised.
*Negotiate a fair fee on your behalf and ensure you are paid promptly.
*Give you all the advice and support you need to maximise your chances of finding work and ensure you have all the information you need to travel to your assignment.
*Keep your personal information (data and images) safe and secure.
Only you and your agency should have complete access to your personal information.
Models Direct, for example, gives its fully vetted clients a time-limited, single-use access code to view photos of a suitable model when considering them for a job.
When you join an agency, such as Models Direct, you should sign a contract.
This is a legally binding agreement that ensures the rights of both parties and outlines the terms, expectations, and obligations within the professional relationship.
So, what should you do if you feel your rights have been compromised?
1. If you have signed a contract, examine it carefully.
2. If you are represented by an agency or agent, discuss the situation with them.
3. Discuss your situation with other genuine, credible industry professionals.
4. Seek legal advice.
5. In extreme circumstances, if you have been harmed physically or psychologically, or you feel that you or any other individual is in danger, then you should call the police.

The modelling industry is largely a very happy, rewarding and enjoyable place in which to work.
And Models Direct is proud to represent so many exceptional male, female, child and pet models on so many successful, high-calibre assignments.
Our job is to ensure the safety of our models and to protect their rights and interests.
We believe we are successful in achieving this, which is why our agency has been so successful for so long.
It is also why our models continue to tell us just how well looked after and well cared for they are at all times while working with us and our clients.
Following a modelling job with Prestige Nursing Care, Leanne told us:
“I had the best experience on set again – I absolutely loved every minute and I can’t wait for the next time!
“Thank you so much, Models Direct, for this amazing opportunity, for believing in me and trusting me to professionally represent you.
“On the day I was made so welcome by all the production team, I instantly felt very comfortable and at ease, knowing that all my needs were fully addressed!
“I’m a permanent wheelchair user and I have a large power chair.
“I was really impressed with how Gemma from Models Direct made sure that a ramp was available, so that this wasn’t an issue.”
And Nikita reported back after modelling for Centrepoint:
“I had a lovely two-day experience working with Centrepoint charity on a shoot and video campaign through Models Direct.
“Everyone involved was incredibly helpful and welcoming, which made the entire experience feel relaxed and comfortable.
“A special thank you to Charlie from Models Direct, who explained everything in detail beforehand and was always there for support and reassurance.
“Alex and the rest of the team involved in Centrepoint charity also really made a difference and helped me feel confident throughout the project.”
