Navigating the world of teenagehood is one very interesting journey. With the accessibility of social media platforms right at our fingertips, teens are swiping and feeding their minds with super fast content like never before.

Their immersive experience comes with added benefits like easily connecting with others across the world based on completely different parameters of communication than what us older gen were brought up with! Remember when we would have to dial up for our internet connection?
Now couldn’t be a better time than for our Models Direct team to write a blog about the do’s and don’ts of using social media for not just teens but aspiring teen models. Here are our top tips on how to stay visible and on the other hand, what not to do!
DO:
1. Create an account that you’ll be happy for industry professionals to see
It can be quite tempting to put everything you want up on your socials, and why not? It’s so easy to do and it’s great when you have others liking your content; family, families and anyone else checking in on what you’re getting up to.

However, things change when you’re presenting content on a profesh level. If you’re looking to be a teen model, images on your socials should reflect your personality and style. You might want to include this season’s fashion outlook – no Friday night drunk pics though, guys!
2. Keep updating it with fresh images
Your look will most likely change – your hair style, make up techniques, fashion style, additional tattooed and/or piercings. Include these changes in your socials so interested clients can see you at your most recent stage in life.

3. Create reels showcasing your abilities
If you can sing or dance, juggle or know another language, you can curate a reel, include your skill in action, and upload this for others to see. The more clients learn about you, the better they’ll get an understanding of what you have to offer as a multidimensional model and if you’ll fit their marketing vision.
Bonus tip:
Keep it short and sweet so your audience doesn’t lose interest and include trending audio (yes, we all love listening to our fav tunes even if it’s a snippet).
4. Social media SEO
It’s still essential to use the right keywords, titles, tags and mentions in your posts so go ahead and utilise this feature to get your content more visible!
DON’T:
1. Expect results straightaway
It takes time to curate some great content but this might mean waiting for clients to check in, react to or reach out through your posts. Be patient but keep pushing through the noise with whatever you feel to share that’ll be great for your personal brand which is *you*

2. Be afraid to try something different
You are your own boss when it comes to creating your personal brand. You’re allowed to experiment, try new things and share this with your audience. Whether this is a new hobby like yoga or mountain climbing, include it in your socials.
3. Neglect your socials
If you’re feeling like you’re not being noticed, you might be tempted to pack it in…but don’t give up! Keep the posts flowing and keep them looking funky on the eyes and sounding great on the ears!
And there you have it, teens! You can elevate your social media so that you’re more visible to your audience. Use our tips for do’s and don’ts. But if you have any questions you’d like clearing up, reach out to our MD team who’ll be happy to help.
