How to Keep Your Pet’s Modelling Portfolio Top-Notch

If your pet is registered with a modelling agency you should update his or her photographs every few months.

The only exception to this would be if your cuddly cat or happy hound was just a kitten or a pup when you signed them up.

All young animals obviously grow and change really quickly – so in these cases we would suggest uploading new modelling photographs every few weeks.

Models Direct gives each of its models a secure e-portfolio where they can upload new pictures and recent information.

For babies and children, these are managed by their parents, while for pets, it is (of course!) the owners who keep them updated.

These e-portfolios serve as windows to us and our clients.

We can look in at any time to see what that person or pet looks like at any given moment.

We can also check their stats – size and height etc – and we can see whether they have carried out similar work before.

Mostly, experience isn’t necessary for our pet models just as it isn’t with our people, but just occasionally a client might ask for an animal that has done this kind of work before.

As with our baby, child and male and female models, clients contact us for a shortlist of suitable pets for their project.

They might ask for a caramel-coloured guinea pig to be seen munching a carrot on a lush lawn or a spotty Dalmatian dog with an inquisitive stare.

The Models Direct agent dealing with the assignment will then search through our e-portfolios to find just the right cute creatures to match those requirements.

A shortlist is given to the client and they make the final choice.

When we are looking through the e-portfolios, we need to know the information and pictures we are seeing are up to date.

If we can see you haven’t refreshed your pet’s e-portfolio for some time, then we can’t be sure of this, which makes it tricky for us to put your bundle of feathers or fur forward.

And this would be such a shame for you and for us!

This is why we suggest adding new photos every few months, even if you think your pet has not changed greatly.

Remember, Models Direct does not require professional pictures.

You can take take and upload your own pictures just as long as they are sharp, well framed and we can see your lovely pet clearly.

Taking your pets along to photo and film shoots through Models Direct can be huge fun and a great way to earn extra money.

So don’t miss out just because you haven’t found time to get snapping!

This is what Makeda told us after the first shoot she attended with her dog Candy:

“As this was Candy’s first assignment we were intrigued to see how she would perform in the moment.

“We were very happy to see that she both enjoyed the experience and the photographer got some great candid shots of her.

“The company was very understanding and great with handling pet models.

“I would highly recommend bookings made through the Models Direct, as they maintain professionalism and found the perfect opportunity for my dog Candy to feature in.

“Thank you, and I look forward to what lies in future opportunities!
