Gosh, it’s a tough world at the moment, particularly for job seekers. No one seems to want to employ anyone without experience, yet how is someone meant to gain it if they’re always being rejected? It’s a catch-22 situation, as statistics on Job Hunters in the UK suggest that the unemployment rate as of April 2024 was 4.4%. It can feel like getting your foot in the door will never happen!

According to the latest, over 1.65 million people! That’s *a lot* of people!
In this blog, Models Direct is shifting the focus to teenagers: 13-18 years old. Yes, it’s true that teens can only work part-time from 13 to 14 up to 16. However, beyond 16, they’re able to work full-time as they’ve reached the minimum school leaving age, and can enjoy the full experience of working 40 hours per week.
When it comes to teen modelling, it’s deemed as a part-time career which can be enjoyed by anyone who is interested, but the most notable thing about this profession, especially when it comes to our agency, is that no previous modelling experience is necessary.
Phew! We know you’re sighing with relief on the other side of our screen.
Finally…something that’s possible to kick-start without experience!

When it comes to our Models Direct agency, we want teens from all over the UK to try out modelling. You don’t need to be in close proximity to our agency’s HQ; you just need to:
Be ready to try new things.
Be open, honest, and confident in yourself.
Be punctual, attentive, and professional – as tempting as it might be, put phones and devices away when you’re on set.
Take on feedback constructively.
Actively upload a variety of images to keep our clients engaged and up to date with body measurements such as height and dress size.
When it comes to teen jobs, Models Direct has a lot to offer. Our talent has worked on projects such as Here! Student Living, The Open University, and Economasters.
One of our teenagers’ parents left this wonderful feedback about their experience:

“Our teenage son recently had his first commercial photo and video shoot at the client’s location, and the experience was incredibly positive from start to finish. The pre-shoot communication with Charlie from MD was both professional and friendly, even though everything came together on rather short notice, which is likely quite common in this industry.
On the day, the team on set was welcoming, kind, and gave clear instructions that really helped him feel confident and at ease, especially as it was his first time in this kind of environment. We truly appreciate how smoothly everything was handled and how supported he felt throughout the process.
Thank you for such a great introduction to the world of commercial work!”
George (FVBB-3338) was chosen to feature in Centrepoint’s campaign, where he took the role of a homeless teen. He left us with this review of his day on set:
“Firstly, everyone involved in the shoot was absolutely lovely and welcoming.
The company did really well to provide us with everything that we needed; they looked out for us, and this made the shoot much more relaxed. Also, they did really well to explain the purpose of the shoot and what was expected of us, which really helped with getting into the right mindset.
I worked both indoors and outdoors, portraying a homeless teenager in need of aid and then getting provided with the necessary aid. Working on the streets of Lewisham also helped in order to see the situations homeless people find themselves in. Being in the actual environment was really useful as it allowed me to see exactly what homeless people go through, and this only helped me portray a homeless teenager better.

The shoot was really fun, and this is down to not only my love of being in front of the camera, but also the team we worked with was not only kind but also fun to work with.
The shoot was similar to how I expected by reading the brief, but was different from how I expected in terms of how easy it was to work with the team. Also, on a personal note, this first experience really helped me to realise that being in front of the camera is when I am in my element. Date of experience: 22 July 2025”
Both teen models had their first experience of working professionally through an agency, and with our dedicated team behind them to support them, they were thrilled and we were proud, and neither had previous modelling experience! We’re certain that they’ll be hearing from more of our clients soon! If you’re interested in becoming our next teen model, let us know!
