Whether you are considering joining a modelling agency or you are maintaining an e-portfolio for your child who is already signed up, you need to have the right photos.

The images you upload of your gorgeous girl or beautiful boy are what we will look at when creating a shortlist for a modelling assignment.
And they are also what our clients will consider when making their final choice as to who to employ.

Modelling – especially child modelling – is an incredibly competitive business and it is important that you show us good photos of your little one and that they are regularly updated.
This is because we cannot put any of our models, especially babies, children and teenagers, forward for assignments if their pictures are not recent.

We – and our clients – need to know that the person we are looking at in the photos looks almost exactly the same as the person who will turn up to the job on the day if selected.
So what are the best modelling photos for a child?

Here are our top tips:
1. The photographs don’t have to be professionally taken but you do need to make sure they are clear and of a high quality. Do not reduce them in size or resolution when saving or uploading them.
2. We need to see the whole of your child’s face in a picture. If you include a shot or two of them wearing a hat, make sure it is pulled back well so we can see from their forehead right down to their chin clearly.
3. Encourage them to smile, giggle or laugh! It is rare to see a child not looking happy in a campaign or advert and we want to see the sparkle in their eyes and their little faces lit up.
4. It is good to see a nice full shot of your child if you can take a good one. But make sure it doesn’t look too wooden. Encourage them to play or perform a little so there is some movement in the shot.
5. Dress them in a nice, colourful, seasonal outfit. This will not only ensure your latest set of images feel very current but will also help to brighten up the shot as a whole.
6. If you are taking photographs while out and about, ensure you choose a good location. You need somewhere that works well as a great backdrop while also not being too busy.
7. Make sure no one else – unless they are being put forward for modelling too – is in the shot. Lovely as they are, we don’t want to see friends, relatives or passersby in the pictures you are sending us of your child!
Child modelling with Models Direct can be a great experience for both little ones and their parents.
But to be in with the very best chance of being chosen, you need to think carefully before you start snapping.

Naomi’s mum uploaded good photos and she was chosen for a shoot with Deliveroo. This was her feedback afterwards:
“We loved our first photo shoot experience for our daughter.
“The team was incredibly friendly super professional and the communication with Models Direct was excellent at the time of booking my daughter into the job!
“They had a lot of fun eating and playing around with the food they gave her from Deliveroo.
“We would love Naomi to be booked again so she can have as much fun as we did.
“An amazing day!”
And it was the same for little Shai who was chosen for an assignment for Hasbro with his dad Steve.
“My son and I had our first assignment with Models Direct together, for an online advert for Hasbro.
“It was my son’s first time so he was a little shy but after some time he settled in quite nicely.
“We had various scenes with Shai in the bathroom and of us in the kitchen, with me rewarding him (after his successful potty training) with a tub of ice scream.
“The film crew were very friendly along and the lovely ladies who were looking after Shai were very helpful.
“We both had a really good time!”
