How to start your modelling career at any age

We represent people from the moment they are born until their golden years when they might be seeking something a little different to enjoy during their retirement.

It is our firm belief that almost anyone with the desire and determination to model can make a success of it, but sometimes it is hard to know just where to start.

Apply to be a model

Of course, we will always sing our own praises and as a government-registered, inspected and accredited agency, we feel well positioned to do so!

But, whether you eventually choose to apply to us or to another company or organisation, we would always urge you to do your research thoroughly.

Male and female models, families, parents of babies, children and teens – and even pet owners – please, please consider carefully before signing up.

Read reviews from other models who have actually worked with an agency, follow social media accounts and dip into blogs so you can understand more about the type of work you will be doing.

Examine client lists to ensure the photo or film shoots you or your child will be sent along to are with companies and brands you are happy to work for.

And make sure the agency is a genuine operation that is vetted by the government and conforms to all legal requirements.

Once you have done this and you feel happy and confident, ask a friend or relative to take a set of modelling photographs for you, fill in the application form and send one or two pictures in with it.

Hire a model

A fully transparent agency such as ours will then contact you to ensure you have a complete understanding of how its system works and to explain that modelling work can never be guaranteed to any model joining it.

If the agency you have approached tells you anything different, then be very wary.

If you and the team member you are chatting to decide modelling could be right for you or your child, then it is a question of waiting to see if your application is accepted.

If it is, then you will be given a portfolio to manage and update.

Making sure there are up-to-date photos on here, including any from any modelling assignments, is essential if you want to stand the very best chance of being selected for a job.

Modelling careers can be launched at any age and there is very little difference in the process that a baby, child or adult will go through.

What is vital, however, is that you embark upon the journey in a manner that is safe, supportive and enables you to achieve what you hope to achieve.
