Could your child or teenager be the next face of a big brand? Modelling starts here!

Children and teens have big dreams even at their young age. Whilst some ambitions might sound a little unlikely (Prime Minister in the making, anyone?) plenty of goals are achievable with hard work and commitment.

Parents want their children to be healthy and happy, and that starts at home and at school, which then encourages them to explore new opportunities with their friends and in social circles. All children and teens have different skills and interests, and watching their journey from child to young adult to adult can be inspiring.

Commercial modelling has been on the rise ever since we started our operations way back in 1990. More companies realise the value of everyday models as the best way to supplement advertising campaigns and in turn appeal to the widest possible customer base. Some brands might use gimmicks – which can be good – and some simply use words to get their message across. Most, however, keep coming back to us to ask us to provide them the best talent we have on our books. That hasn’t changed. And children and teens play a huge part.

Parents want to know a few basic principles of modelling with agencies. We can answer a few important questions to ease any concerns parents might have,

  1. Do Models Direct vet their clients / brands? Yes, we do. We safety check the brands we work with to ensure the safety of our models.
    1. I’m worried about my child going to a modelling assignment. How can I be reassured? We insist that all models below 18 years of age to be accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult family friend. Professional photographers / filmmakers are usually on set, and parents can “sit in” on the shoots. Our team is in contact before, during and after the shoot, too.
    1. Will modelling work affect my child’s school commitments? No, education is more important. If a parent has a valid excuse because their child is not at school then they can attend modelling jobs, though we don’t recommend children missing school days to model.
    1. If my child / teenager is offered a modelling job, can they change their mind if something else crops up? Yes. We understand that circumstances can change, and changing your mind won’t affect our efforts in securing future work.
    1. My child hasn’t modelled before, although they’d like to. Is this a problem? No – we welcome models without experience, and in fact thousands of models (young and older) have enjoyed assignments as first-timers.

We’ve built solid relationships with our brands; a lot are famous names in their fields, whilst others are fledging companies. Youngsters should be ambitious, though, so if your child / teenager has expressed interest in using their looks or posing and acting abilities in varied roles, we have the big brands that count on us to provide them the necessary models.

Some of our clients are huge retail companies like Morrisons, John Lewis and Next. Others are trusted travel operators, such as Jet 2. We provide local councils and high street stores with models of all ages, and we’re constantly adding brands to our extensive client list.

We ask all parents to register their child with us. It could be the start of a long, thriving relationship.
